Backyard Homestead Marketplace Resources
Community Resources
Practical Knowledge. Local Connections. Stronger Communities.
Backyard Homestead Marketplace believes that some of the most valuable resources a community can share are knowledge, experience, and connections to people who can help.
As part of our nonprofit mission, we are developing a collection of educational materials, helpful information, community connections, and practical resources for individuals, families, small businesses, makers, growers, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Our resource library will continue to grow as new materials, programs, and community partnerships become available.
Homesteading & Self-Reliance
Whether you're just beginning or have years of experience, there is always something new to learn.
Future resources will explore practical subjects such as gardening and growing food, food preservation and storage, home and household skills, sewing and traditional crafts, basic homesteading practices, and other skills that can help families become more capable and self-reliant.
Food Preservation & Home Food Production
Preserving food safely and effectively is an important part of becoming more self-reliant.
We plan to provide educational resources covering subjects such as canning, dehydrating, freeze drying, food storage, gardening, seasonal preservation, and other methods of making the most of the food families grow, raise, or purchase.
Whenever appropriate, educational materials will direct visitors to established government, university extension, or other reliable resources for current food-safety recommendations.
Small Business & Entrepreneurship
Many small businesses begin with nothing more than a skill and the determination to turn it into an opportunity.
Resources in this area will be developed to help makers, growers, artisans, crafters, cottage-food producers, and other small entrepreneurs better understand topics related to starting and growing a small business.
This may include information about selling through the Backyard Homestead Marketplace, product presentation and labeling, local business resources, cottage-food requirements, marketing, and other practical subjects encountered by small businesses.

Veterans & First Responders
Supporting veterans and first responders is an important part of the charitable mission of Backyard Homestead Marketplace.
As our nonprofit programs and partnerships develop, this page will also provide connections to organizations, programs, services, educational opportunities, and other resources that may benefit veterans, first responders, and their families.
Local & Community Resources
Strong communities depend on people knowing where to turn when they need information, assistance, education, or an opportunity to get involved.
We plan to build a collection of useful links to community organizations, educational programs, government resources, local services, nonprofit organizations, and other programs that complement the mission of Backyard Homestead Marketplace.
Our Resource Library Is Growing
We're just getting started.
New guides, educational materials, helpful links, community organizations, and other resources will be added as the program develops.
If you know of a reliable community resource that you believe would benefit our neighbors, we'd be happy to hear about it.
